The Graduate Program in Digital Futures is a unique, practice-based program situated within the Digital Futures Initiative at OCAD U and is comprised of a set of new cross-disciplinary programs in practice, research, and innovation related to digital media and its emergent developments. CFC Media Lab’s, critically-acclaimed post-graduate residency in digital media production has been integrated into both the degree and diploma programs. This unique collaboration will afford students the opportunity to participate in an intensive project/prototyping program.
CFC Accelerate! is a unique platform of strategic activities, programs and services to increase digital, future entertainment cluster capacity in southern Ontario by: transforming Canada's traditional media industry workforce into globally competitive, digital economy "netizens"; accelerating development of future entertainment products and services for the future entertainment industries; incubating next generation future entertainment companies; and, producing best practice future entertainment commercial projects.
JOLT is a technology accelerator run by the MaRS Discovery District that is dedicated to building high-growth web and mobile companies that promise to transform the way consumers and enterprises interact with technologies. The CFC Media Lab provides extensive digital media expertise, as a creative partner to this program.
ASTOUND is a phased, systematic initiative that seeks to encourage private investment in Ontario’s creative industries. Phase one includes professional intensives and research in business modeling, and audience engagement, and an event framework that introduces private investors with content creators and companies.
Led by CFC Media Lab, HotDocs and OCADu, ASTOUND also includes participation from a host of tertiary partners: Achilles Media, CMPA, Interactive Ontario, MaRS Discovery District, Nordicity, Seneca College, Summerwood Group Inc., University of Waterloo-Stratford Campus, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Wesley Clover International, and Women In Film and television (WIFT-T).
Ground-breaking productions include, Canada’s first interactive feature film, LATE FRAGMENT and the dynamic mobile visualization project of What’s Your Essential Cinema, co-produced with the Toronto International Film Festival, SJO1 Biennale and 2010 Vancouver Cultural Olympiad.
